So I've finally decided that it is better to have new merchandise on the site than to worry about having those perfect photos.
In March, I met with my main vintage bead source, a septuagenarian who has been in the bead business since 1974! She finally decided that she isn't going to move to California and invited me to come see and purchase from over 90 boxes of vintage beads that had been in storage for more than a decade. I spent a few days in her house, pouring over boxes of treasures and learning about her life. I overspent my budget, but couldn't resist these gems from the 1950s and earlier.
For years, my 6mm 1950s Japanese "millefiori" earrings have been a best seller. I've had them in roughly 10 colors. Thanks to that visit, I now have more than 30 colors and they come in a few different shapes. I've more than doubled the choices I have in the vintage section of my shop, and more if you come find me in person at a summer show or in my studio,
And then there's my friend who designs lampwork beads that are reproduced by women living in California. She always has fabulous beads and new ones in the hopper. I've taken many of my favorites and added them to the lampwork section of the shop. Turtles, hummingbirds, flowers and dichroic glass - They all make me smile.
As always, feel free to ask questions about my work, or let me know if you are looking for something that you don't see on the site.
Perhaps one day I will actually get some of the the 400 necklaces I have up on the site as well..
For now, Happy Summer,
